Week Four
Reading
Chapters Three, Four and Five: Meaningful Learning with Technology
Week Four Discussion
This week, our reading focuses on experimenting with technologies. Some of the techniques and technologies mentioned in the chapter may be unfamiliar to you; however, I encourage you to try some of them out. Microworlds such as Logo and virtual environments such as Quest Atlantis may provide our students an opportunity for experimentation beyond the physical which can deepen abstract thought and provide creative opportunities.
In addition, we are looking at tools for designing with technology as well as tools for communication with technology. There are many that we can choose from. I would encourage exploration of Prezi,Capzles, Slideshare, Voicethread and other networked presentation tools (since these represent a convergence of the two topics). Finally, I would encourage you to look at ways that educators are using tools such as Twitter to engage learners with their own mobile devices in learning in the classroom.
